Short introduction till I get the About Us page back up and running.  I, Deidre, will be your "tour guide" around the site.  I am the third generation along with my two sisters Colleen and Eileen.  Our mother, Barbara Ellen, is the second generation and my grandmother Corky (Martha C. Burns) and grandpa Louie where the first generation and founders of Quirinus Airedale Terriers. My family comes from a long line (think 1800's) of being terrier owners so you might say it is in the blood.  Grandma Corky loved conformation and she also showed in obedience with her dream terrier being Ch. Reffal Humdinger CDX.  To the day she died she would only own Airedale Terriers that went back to her beloved Humdinger. Second generation was Barbara Ellen and it was her understand of genetics and her good eye for what a terrier should be that has made Quirinus what it is today.  Barbara Ellen's passion is obedience training which makes trainablity very important in our breeding program.  She has put many CD, CDX and UD titles on our Airedale Terriers and the highest she has scored was a 199.5.  She was also willing to do anything with our Airedale Terriers since our terriers were willing to give it a try too.  My sisters and I were raised going to dog shows, hunting tests, terrier racing, hunting, carting, sledding, herding, water racing, just to name a few, with our Airedale Terriers with Barbara Ellen.  Through Barbara Ellen we got to see first hand what our Airedale Terrier could do and how veratile our dogs were and we had a great time doing it. I also enjoyed showing in AKC Junior Handling.  Present day Barbara Ellen is still training and competeing in obedience and I am training and showing in conformation, obedience, agility, tracking (a new thing for me that I have always wanted to do!) and I still cart (I love carting) and pack with our dogs.  We have a working farm in middle Tennessee with horses and registered dairy goats and we even use the Airedale Terriers to help with herding the goats when I bring them in for milking and feeding.  Temperament, trainablity and conformation are very very important to us.  We demand only great temperments - our terriers are part of our family and we also have pet fat nuetered cats and we also have the farm animals.  We have been selectively picking out the puppies that want to train, want to work with us for 5 decades which as resulted in a terrier that wants to be trained and work with us.  Conformation is important as if effects the health of the terrier and if they did not have good conformation I could not use them for carting and pulling out the feed to the horses, they need good conformation so they can jump the jumps in obedience and agility.  We love to try out different types of events with our terriers - there is not much we have not done with our terriers - it is fun to meet different types of people and to see if our terriers can do it.  We enjoy our Airedale Terriers and doing things with them and they enjoy keeping a sence of humor with us and us with them!  If you are looking for a terrier with a sence of humor that enjoys doing whatever you are doing, even if it is sitting and watching TV (they do that well too!) - you might just enjoy an Airedale Terrier like we do.
